This biological process actually indicates your tank is establishing microbial defenses, marking a crucial transition toward ecological balance.

Managing Biofilm Growth

While not immediately dangerous to aquatic life, unchecked biofilm expansion can create aesthetic issues and potentially trap organic debris, leading to localized oxygen depletion. Experts recommend these scientifically-backed management strategies:
